$50 Million Case Against 50-Cent Dismissed PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 06 February 2009 00:00

In case you care, Manhattan State Supreme Court Justice Carol Edmead has thrown out the $50 million lawsuit against rapper 50 Cent. The suit was brought last year by 50's ex-girlfriend Shaniqua Tompkins (mother of Jackson's 11-year old son Marquise) who claimed that in 1996, 50 verbally promised her half his earnings and assets "forever" as soon as he "made it big." 50 denied ever making such a statement. Either way, Tompkins should have known that such a verbal statement wouldn't support a lawsuit, right? I mean, where's the consideration?

In any case, Judge Edmead had two problems with the suit: 1)Tompkins brought the wrong claim--apparently she should have filed a palimony claim instead of a breach of contract suit, and 2) any such palimony claim would now be barred by the six-year statute of limitations.

50's attorney, Brett Kimmel, issued a statement saying that "[i]n dismissing the case before trial, the court is sending a clear message. This is a complete and total victory for 50."
